The United States launched a second phase of military strikes against Iran, targeting coastal defense systems and missile facilities allegedly threatening shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States has intensified its military campaign against Iran by launching a second wave of precision strikes targeting key military installations linked to the security of the Strait of Hormuz. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the latest operation was conducted under the direction of the US Commander-in-Chief and focused on facilities allegedly used by Iran to threaten commercial shipping through one of the world's busiest maritime trade routes.

CENTCOM stated that the operation targeted coastal defense systems, cruise missile storage facilities and launch sites, including military infrastructure on Greater Tunb Island. The US military said the objective was to further reduce Iran's capability to disrupt international shipping and ensure the free movement of vessels through the strategic waterway.

Following the strikes, Iranian media reported explosions in the southern cities of Ahvaz and Chabahar. However, officials did not immediately confirm whether those explosions were directly linked to the American attacks.

The second phase followed an earlier military operation conducted the same day. According to CENTCOM, the first round lasted about 90 minutes and employed precision-guided weapons against Iranian coastal defense positions. The US claims the strikes significantly weakened Iran's ability to threaten commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, the US military also announced that two commercial ships attempting to enter Iranian ports were redirected as part of an ongoing naval blockade. CENTCOM said American naval forces remain deployed across the region to enforce maritime restrictions and maintain security in international waters.

The renewed blockade comes amid heightened tensions in West Asia. US officials said more than 20 naval warships and hundreds of military aircraft have been positioned in the region to support maritime operations and safeguard international trade routes.

The developments have further escalated regional tensions, with global observers closely monitoring the situation due to the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world's oil shipments passes.
